When you send things through the post do you always consider the cheapest option. If you get your birthday cards ready a day early then you can send 2nd class instead of 1st.
Parcels are worth looking into first. Remember that if they are only paperwork or books they can go as printed papers to foreign destinations and this is much cheaper than going standard air or surface mail.
It is really worth remembering as you can save a lot of money by being a bit more organised.
